Mainline Bodied 6600 0-6 -2 Loco With Unknown Chassis (Mainline Box))
This is a bit of an unusual loco as it is a Mainline bodied loco on an unusual chassis which has a reduction gearbox built into it and the motor is a Mashima Japanese type . All the wheels are flanged but it will negotiate 2nd radius curves . The centre wheels are sprung in horn blocks and the front wheels also have some movement in them .Tha trailing pony wheels also have a unique system of movement that allows them to turn slightly as well as laterally . All the wheels have pickups on them .
The body has big weights fitted in the side tanks also in the boiler and at the back of the cab so is very heavy. There is 'narrow' tension lock couplings fitted . There is no damage to the body but the early BR logos are damaged . There is etched brass numbers (6642) fitted to ther cab sides .
The loco has been tested and does run but only slowly ,this may be to the reduction gears or that the motor is underpowered although on extended running on a rolling road it did not overheat and the wheels still spun when the loco was restricted from going forward on the track The motor needs about 6vDC to start and has a 0.15 aprox amp use so is not under great stress .
It is in a box but it is a Mainline one for the class 6600 0-6-2T loco
